I am certainly a newbie, and I see that a few make lots of cash while the majority of us, including me, make very little, or often make nothing at all. The seduction of the wealth and the freedom in time is certainly why I returned to internet marketing in June this year.
Back in 2003 I had money in the bank and all day to investigate what was then a completely new area for me. I was about to start my own offline business, but had 5 months or so to see if I could break the IM code and make money. I did a one to one course with Sandro Salsi who worked for Corey Rudel’s Internet Marketing Center. Yes it was a great course and I managed to get a couple of websites up and CEO optimised. Yeh it had visits, but very few and I realised the niche I had used was too small to really deliver more than small volumes of targeted traffic. Yes it was my speciallity subject of laundry cleaning problems, products, and industrial cleaning. The site really was not converting well either because my sales copy was just average. I dropped this in 2004 as my attention had moved to developing a real world business in the laundry chemical supply area.
As this grew I realised I was being forced to work in the business and I was loosing the ability to work on the business. I had no time for me or my friends and taking the occasional holiday was a logistical nightmare! To cut to the chase I got out with a loss of capital and about 5 months of cash left before I needed to sell up. I guess when you look at it I should have just gone and got a job, but oh the thought of moving house to work for a boss in a big corporate company was not somehow all that appealing.
I decided to have a fresh start and go for online marketing of information products full time.

We have all been there! I’m sure Alex’s course is not the first attempt at making money online for most people.
How’s the traffic plan coming along?!
I have put a post on my blog about traffic tactics that have worked for me so far. One of the best has been Squidoo. I only have one lens on there at present but it has been a high traffic source.
My youtube video has also had a lot of hits and driving traffic to my ppp. I haven’t used twiter to it’s full potential but the tweetmyblog plugin is very effective (details in my post).

Thanks for the follow on Twitter. I ‘resemble’ your story. I have been at this for about 4 years now, not so seriously for the first three, but spent some money on training this year, and I am seeing steady increases in traffic to my website. Made money sporadically, and am hopeful for the future. Let’s keep talking and supporting each other, and bring some other folks into a different kind of retirement, where we can let the bills sit in the mail box for a day or two. Mike

I totally relate to what are are saying about working a regular day job. It is very hard to have a “real” life when you are tied down to a 9 to 5. One of my personal goals is to be able to leave my job by the end of 2009. Lol… it makes me very happy just to think about it.
I know if we follow what Alex says we will be able to do it. I am so glad I signed up for his classes.

I can feel for you, I to have tried to buy myself a biz, but it feels like i’m on the right track now.
I made my first videos last week and submitted them through Traffic Geyser. My page rank was almost 6 million and today its 2,211,255! A huge leap up in one week!

I too was involved with Cory Rudl, well his “Advanced Mentoring Program”… Is this the same thing you were part of? IMO the program was more catered towards complete newbies if you wanted value from it, but since i was not – i really did not learn anything new which is a shame. ( still burns me ).

Yes you know it, that’s the one; the Advanced Mentoring Program. Being a newbie I found it useful at first, but later on I lost focus as I didn’t get any clear direction from the mentor. The main pain was the very expensive cost of it all !
